Exploring Tolkien: There and Back Again (3)

Explore Tolkien’s Middle-earth from your home, in your own time. Find out about the vast mythology behind The Lord of the Rings, gain a thorough knowledge of Tolkien’s fiction and its creation, explore the northern European mythologies that inspired Tolkien’s Middle-earth, learn about Tolkien’s invented languages, their origins and sources, find out about the ‘races’ and the cultures of Middle-earth.

The course has been updated and enlarged to include a discussion of The Children of Húrin, the ‘new’ book by J.R.R. Tolkien, which was published in April 2007.

J.R.R. Tolkien: más allá de la pantalla

This event consists of a series of expert panels, lectures, film and documentaries related to Tolkien's work.

The panel of the last day (July 17th) will include Adam Tolkien, son of Christopher Tolkien, translator of some of his grandfather's books into French, and currently the main collaborator of his father in the editing of J.R.R. Tolkien's writings. For example, he has been heavily involved in the edition of "The Children of Húrin".

This event is organized by the Smial of Mithlond of the Spanish Tolkien Society, and funded by the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo. All activities will be in Spanish.

“L’Europa nella Terra di Mezzo” A Photo Exhibit – Call for Pictures

The Italian Tolkien Society is planning a photographic exhibition around the theme “L’Europa nella Terra di Mezzo” (Europe in Middle-earth), to be displayed on the occasion of its “Hobbiton” event (the most important meeting of the Italian TS) which will take place next 5th-7th September in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza – Italy). The pictures must portray European landscapes recalling the places created by our favourite author JRR Tolkien. The Italian Tolkien Society has held such exhibitions before, but this is the first time that the invitation to take part is being extended to Tolkien fans from other nations.
