2009 DTG Tolkien SeminarViolence, Conflict and War in Tolkien
The 2009 DTG Seminar invites scholars from all walks of academia to explore violence, conflict and war in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien from these and other differing angles. Possible topics include content as well as formal and structural elements of Tolkien’s writings – from imagery via narrative structures to myth, their sources and analogues, issues of Otherness (including racial and gendered differences), questions of justice and ethics, concern with technology, etc.

Mythcon 40The 40th Annual Conference of the Mythopoeic Society; back in Southern California for the first time since 1997 and our debut appearance at the very appealing UCLA. We will occupy UCLA's DeNeve Plaza, which means great accessibility, amenities, and comfort.
